Ram never moved the 5th Gen cab and architecture to the HD line. They did update the interior slightly, but overall the HD trucks are still the same 4th Gen trucks they've sold for over a decade.
The true 5th Gen Rams are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much nicer than any other truck on the market. Gorgeous exterior lines, larger and more functional interior with a flat rear load floor, larger rear seat, better sound deadening throughout, more safety, etc. etc. Even the sound you hear when you close the doors is different. I have no idea why they never moved that to the HD trucks. Well, I guess I do... Stellantis is run by idiots.
If they had moved the 5th Gen to the HD line, and had left the hydraulic lifters off the Cummins engine, the Ram would have been the best HD truck in the segment by a long shot. Oh well.....
This is exactly why I am visiting this forum. I own a 2015 RAM 2500 CCLB with a 6.4L engine and it has served me well, but I am ready to move to a truck with more capacity and more features. The last few years in a row I have told myself to hold out one more year because they have to upgrade the RAM HD to the new cab by next year. Unfortunately, it is now obvious that Stellantis is not investing any money to update any of the current platforms. Now I am 99% sure I am going to order a Ford in January - just too tired of waiting.

I just went from 15 Ram 3500 to a 24 F350. I also was looking forward to an update Ram too. Don’t know when or if it will ever happen. Stellantis is not in a good place. Rumours of a ZF 8 speed transmission and upgraded Cummins I think are just that…rumours. I was relatively happy with the Cummins and Aisin. The Ram platform is old though. I found lots of Ford Superduty inventory in my area and I got a great discount. Not many changes for the 2025’s. Have you considered a 24?

I have been, but there's a few problems for me - 1. I can't find a combination I like, I want a Blackout Tremor. I also don't really want a Lariat but evidently to get the auto climate control now you HAVE to get a Lariat, whereas Ram has it in the Bighorn (comparable to the XLT). Makes it hard to make the switch when options I want are locked into trims with features I don't want.

Yes, I just got X Plan pricing from the dealer on a 25. I called him yesterday and asked if there might be a 24 available with what I am looking for. I did a quick search myself and there are similar trucks, but most of them add things I don't really want/need, so that would eat up any savings of getting a 24. For example, many of them have the Tremor package which adds several thousand dollars. Most of them also have things like the snow plow prep package and 5th wheel hitch (I only want the prep package without the hitch). All of these extras add up.
With all of that said, If they could locate a truck with all my wanted features and for less than a 25, I would seriously consider it.
it's across the world, we needed a new mid sized shop truck, couldn't wait the time needed to have a ranger built , went from a tacoma to a frontier same world if different, IMMO nissian's QC is worse, and they won't fix what's wrong till it fully breaks or thier people have proof there's a problem like a radio that stops working or whose back up camera fails to work, handles like stinky , tires all leaked from day one and had torn beads , . gas mileage thier 3.8l v6 is a bigger gas hog than my old 250 v10 was .

its pretty much always been that way with the super duty. You can get dual zone auto climate control in a Silverado HD LT and a Ram Big Horn but not an XLT. I really wanted it since I usually have the AC on full blast directly on my arms and the wife is always too cold for AC. But couldn’t stomach the $$$ premium to step up to a Lariat.

After carefully going through the 'build your own,' it seems that the current price difference between similarly-optioned XLT and Lariat is about $4k - at least how I want them built. I want a Blackout Tremor, which forces the XLT Premium package but NOT the Lariat Ultimate package. I'm guessing that's cloth seats vs ActiveX (for 2025 at least they're not called out as leather anymore) seats, the auto/dual zone climate system, the under-seat storage bin in the back seat, and the extra cup holders in the back seat. Which...all things considered is probably worth it.
If that gap gets much bigger...yeah it may not be worth it anymore. Just makes it hard to make the jump when they're obviously offering it in the same trim level of other vehicles but not this one.
Each brand has their pro's and con's just like Ford. GM and Ram forums are full of die-hard brand lovers just like FTE who say the same thing about greener grass.
I came from 2 newer Dodges and a Ram (among many older '70's-'90's Fords). Haven't been around the 5th Gen Ram's yet...
Friend of mine purchased a new Ram 1500 Hemi E torque this year and each side of the bed has two noticeable dents because the sheet metal is so thin. Didn't have a dent on his old Dodge truck.
Acdii, I've read multiple about how hard your 450 road, just for curiosity, did it have a plow package or camper package?I have a 2020 King Ranch which I ordered new without any heavy duty suspension package and rides great, in fact better than both of my friends 3500 Denalis, one is a 19 the other is a 24. Just curious
I owned several Ram trucks since 2010. In my experience they are throw away trucks to be dumped before the factory warranty runs out. FCA will also leave you holding the bag on their manufacturing defects if they can get away with it. I just traded in my Ram 1500 Rebel on the new F250. At 53k it was falling apart and time to pull the rip cord.

If you were able to get the Lifetime Maxxcare extended warranty through Mopar, it wasn't a headache at all. Just drop off for service and leave a $100 check when it's done. I think in 5 years of ownership on my '17, I had maybe 3 issues, all electrical, and all covered by that warranty. But it was washed every month, oil changes with Mobil 1 every 5k, tire rotations every 10k, and when I traded it in I had around 110k-120k on it. Of course this was a 2500 Power Wagon, not a 1500.
Okay that is hilarious. And as a Ram owner, I really don't get the guys who run around with the mirrors up (though the '23s now have slide-out mirrors similar to everyone else). On my '17 gasser, I took about a 2mpg hit on the highway with those up. It's not really an issue with the new one but I still wish I had the '23+ mirrors. They do look goofy turned up like that, though they are pretty effective for towing.
