Rear Leaf suggestion

2004 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer 4x4 6.0L

U code front springs 43-812
KYB Monomax F250 front / Excursion rear
Stock rear springs with over leaf assist on rear half of springs.

XD Rockstar II's with 275/75r18's.
Like how front sits and ride quality.

Measurements: (Center hub to fender)
Front: 23 3/8"
Rear 23 1/2"

Looking to replace rear springs, looking for more stability and better ride. Little bit of lift from where I'm at would be okay but don't want to mess with leveling the front or replacing the U codes as I am happy with them.
I don't tow heavy, 6,000 lbs max and seldom. Excursion is DD and family hauler for vacations. 5 boys and lots of bikes (7) and luggage.

Is B code 43-1261 what I should be looking for and can I still them without adding leafs from existing springs? Thanks!

1. Neither of those codes are Ford part numbers. Those are SD Springs part numbers. Their best approximation of the Ford version.

B codes (1999-2004) and F codes (2005-2007) are the same leafs and only were offered by Ford.

SD Springs are good. Ford are good. I personally used Fords version. Plenty of people have used SD with great results. Buyers choice.

2. Height. This is extremely easy to set. Have the axle on jackstands. Install the springs loosely, then lower body until axle is holding weight. Measure. If happy, tighten it all down.

if not happy, pull the leafs back out, insert a leaf. The guides in the Sticky section have pictures showing how we’ve done this. It’s easy.

then repeat. Once you have a happy height, tighten it all down.

you can set your height to whatever you desire.

You will end up with a little extra height using B codes. They have a higher weight capacity than your current G codes. Maybe 1” at most. Depends on how tired your leafs are after all these 20 some odd years.

Just running them alone with no modifications will be fine. The extra stiffness will help immensely. Most of us mod them for the height and/or extra weight capacity. It’s not needed for what you described

Do you know if these will sit higher than stock excursion rear springs, same or higher? Guess that is the question I am asking...thanks for the reply!

Before you buy springs, give a call to Junior at ATS Springs in PA. He really helped me sort out what I was looking for.
I already had RAS, so Junior set me up with their B codes. This way I can adjust my rear end height while unloaded. Installed some bags, later, and now I can adjust my loaded height with air. Best of both worlds.

these folks build custom springs to your specifications.
call them, and they will tell you what you need...

I see a lot of custom off road rock crawlers going to these folks.
