I changed my 24 7.3L XLT battery after two months as the voltage would drop to 11.6- 11.3 volts and my Ctek charger would take over two days just to get it topped off. I didn't want to go through the dealer antics so I got an Odyssey Extreme at NAPA with a coupon. Fired up forscan and changed the battery from flood to AGM and did a BCM reset. The Odyssey voltage stays in the 12-volt range now. I've always kept track of the batteries in the vehicles I've owned and will top them off if I haven't driven them. I've never had one act this way and is the first vehicle I've had where the OEM battery stayed in the 11-volt range and took forever to top off. I don't want any surprises and to be fair, the truck always started quickly with the OEM battery.
For folks who say they have original batteries and report they leave their trucks parked for weeks at a time with no battery voltage drain….do you have the ford pass app enabled for vehicle access.
I just reset my system in the main menu and denied access for remote monitoring. As a result, my parked end of day voltage is 12.84. , it’s never been that high…so I am convinced the remote monitoring is keeping stuff alive and reporting data upstream. Which would not be a problem for daily drivers.

I just went to start my truck after leaving it parked for 2 weeks and it was dead. I routinely check and refilled my flooded lead acid FoMoCo batteries with distilled water every couple months. They are just over 3 years old.

yes
with flooded batteries you are actually better off adding fresh battery acid to top them off.
the sulfuric acid in the battery acid will sulfate into particles which either collect on the bottom of the battery eventually shorting out the cells or become impregnated into the cells raising their charge resistance. As this process continues the acid in your battery basically turns to water. Adding acid helps to bring the sulfuric acid levels up .
alternatively, EFB batteries have carbon in them to prevent sulfating plates and EFB batteries have a chamber below the cell plates that collect sulfate particles…then by normal battery motion the acid is recirculated taking the sulfate particles with them preventing cells from shorting.

FoMoCo batteries are trash. I've been waiting for this day so I can just replace them with AGMs and be done with the off-gassing.

I replaced my original Motorcraft batteries with Interstate AGMs in Feb 22. Never had any issues with corrosion because the truck got oiled at Carwell Products every year and they sprayed under the hood as well; underhood, battery posts and connectors, top of batteries, harnesses... so they never had a chance to corrode because of the oil... just the price to pay living in the rust belt.
