I'm looking to build a lowered AWD sport truck out of a basic ECSB Coyote 4x4 work truck and I am wondering if anyone knows what the easy swap options are? Certainly the 4A case out of a Lariat (and up) or the Raptor transfer cases are options, but I really would really prefer a simple mechanical full time AWD case like the helical 70/30 torque split case GM put into the Trailblazer SS. Is there anything like that out there, perhaps from a Navigator? I'm open to having driveshafts lengthened or shortened, but major surgery on the transfer case to make it work probably isn't in my wheelhouse.
Not a single speed, it would still have 4 low. All of the 4A transfer cases out there also have 4 low, as far as I can recall. If you're looking at a later model truck with the 10 speed auto, GM uses the same transmission and they do offer a single speed unit on their half tons, so that may open some options up for you. I would think that at any rate, you would need to have it built to handle the torque that it sounds like you are planning.
This post is specifically asking about single speed limited slip transfer cases. If I decide to get a TOD 2-speed unit, I can get the same one at the junkyard for $250 that Ford offers a powertrain warranty for with a Whipple.
