I have a 2006 f-150 and my buddy has a 2004 f-150 we have both been looking at getting a tuner (SCT X4) and we thought about buying one 50/50 but we're not sure if it will work for both. Both truck have a 5.4 V8 but his is a manual and mine is a auto. Will it work for both truck or do we need two separate tuners? I'll take any feedback Thanks!
As an owner of the sctx4 for many years, I can confirm what everyone else has stated, 1 tuner = 1 vehicle. You can use it on other vehicles with similar specs but not at the same time, when you want to use it with another vehicle, you have to divorce it from the 1st vehicle then marry it to the other. Don't ask me, I didn't come up with the terminology, they did.
However, you can store more than 1 custom tune on the device. I chose those to have varying octane tunes as sometimes areas where I may travel to don't always have the same octane fuels available, wouldn't want to get stuck somewhere running a 93 race tune when 90 octane is the highest available, good way to melt a piston.
