Good afternoon all. I have a question that I know has been answered here before but I am looking to get some more information.
I am trying to swap the body from a 4x4 1996 F350 to a 2wd 1993 F350 frame due to an accident that caused frame damage. have both trucks about down to the frame and I noticed one difference. I know that I would have to add shackles to mount the leaf springs to the front of the frame, but I have 2006 axles I would be swapping onto the frame so it will be coil springs. I noticed a bracket that is welded on the inside of the frame rail on the 4x4 96 frame that the 2wd 93 does not have. See attached pictures. Is this something that adds structural support to the frame or what? Thank you in advance.
Looking from the outside, is that the back of the "bracket" showing through? IOW, is there a rust-through hole in the frame? Looks like they band-aided the problem. I'd find another frame or do a proper repair.
Complete performance is a company out of Texas that sells a weld in piece for a 2-4wd frame conversion. They also have many products for a super duty axle swap.

Both are southern trucks. We do not deal with that kind of rust down here on the frames. Some surface rust and some good grease gooped up on there, but neither frame has any rot. You may be seeing where the bracket for the steering stabilizer is mounted to the frame horn? I pulled diagonals today and the frame on the 93 is very square. I believe since the 93 is a 2wd it is missing that brace on the inside of the frame rail that my 96 4x4 frame has. And I also understand it is missing the brackets to box in the frame where the lead springs would mount.

Also. The orange stuff you are seeing that looks like rust is actually red clay/dirt. It is built up on a few different spots of the frame.
