OMG October BS Thread

Welcome visitors to the monthly Mississippi Chapter BS Thread... where we mostly discuss the vagaries of our weather.
If you are a MS Ford truck (any year, vintage) owner, please say hello & especially if you are interested in having the coveted chapter membership added to your FTE status.
If you're in a neighboring state/region or just like us, please feel free to join in & post.

We love projects. We love pictures of projects. If you know of a automotive event close by that may have slipped our notice, please tell us about it.
If you're out & about in the state, say where & when & we can do IRL for a cup of coffee or cool beverage. If you need advice/info/helping hand, speak up & we'll give it a shot.

Well ****. Sorry it's a late start.

Not a lot to get excited about this month.

Wish like Hell I was sitting in the shade with a frosty beverage watching the greatest mobile car show in the world go by.

Complete with salty breeze, friends & loving spouse.

Ain't happening.

I hate the 50s. Not the decade.

Temps. It means that we'll soon have 40s, 30s, 20s & OMG teens some where down the line before it gets better.

I hate cold.

Say a prayer for those affected by the hurricanes.

Well dang. Just haven't touched up this thread with stuff sucking up incentive.

Nice day in the deep south today, not too cool, not too hot.

Have a good one y'all.

I heard you talking about us Mike's. Hey John & Dave. That's a gorgeous engine, John!

This is what mine currently looks like. Not as pretty as yours, but at least the new water pump is shiny. Except for the blood.

Wow, a mechanical fuel pump & no studs in a water pump. Ain't seen that in a while.

The older I get, the more blood I spill, though. Hope you don't have any more leaks in you or the truck.

John that's some first rate stuff.

Good morning all. Glad to see everyone is doing well. Looking forward to cooler weather and a break from the heat. I guess I shouldn't have used the word break as that seems to be what my vehicles are doing lately. Thanks to David's help they will live on though. Have a great one guys!

Good morning Mike, David, Thomas. Rather chilly here this morning dipping down to -3° C and very frosty.. was wondering if you needed a longer serpentine belt when switching over to the Econoline bracket and Saginaw pump. For some reason I can't seem to install the belt I had..

I can't remember what size we used on Thomas's.

Will check.

I find the best place is the idler pulley since it's smoothest.

Did your stock set up have an air pump? It was a 96?

The air pump was still there but the pulley had been removed and a shorter belt was on it. That's the same one I was trying to put on so I could get a feel of how much tension should be on the new one I'll have to order once I get the new pump with the Vintage Air kit..

If you got an old belt, cut it, thread it, over-lap it & crank down on the tensioner.

When you get it to length, clamp the over-lap with vice grips & make a mark all the way around.

Un-clamp & lay out flat. Measure between the 2 marks. Or leave clamped & take to a store with belt measuring tool

I use an equal stack of identical SS washers between the 3 alt bolts & bracket to add tension if not tight enough.

Dave, I bled pretty good on that one. I was about to install a fresh blade in the gasket scraper. Instead, I installed it into my right hand middle finger. What a dumbaxe!
