idle problem with a/c on

Hi all, the problem im experiencing is with my 1998 ford ranger 2.3 5-speed 4x2. when the a/c is on and I let off the gas and push the clutch in the idle stays up for a extended period before dropping back to a normal idle making it hard to shift without the truck jumping when letting out on the clutch or slipping because of the speed of the engine, also when setting in traffic at a stop when the engine falls to normal idle with the a/c on it will almost stall and shake for a second before the idle kicks back up to normal. any help would be appreciated

sounds like it might be a sticky idle air control (IAC) valve. all you need to do is unplug and unbolt it, and spray it out with some stp throttle body cleaner. its on the top rear of ur engine, a light colored cylinder looking thing attached with 2 bolts right before the throttle body. mine had the same symptoms, after coasting in gear up to a light, when i push the clutch in to stop, it would bog down and idle real rough, occasionally stall or jump back up to normal idle. also do a search ^
