yes i'm refering too swaping transfer cases... getting rid of the AWD transfer case for a 2hi/4hi-n-4lo transfer case! which transfer case will swap in place of the AWD? are there 5 or 6 mount bolts that bolt the AWD case to the trans?
i want a explorer 4WD the v8 would be nice but they were all AWD. i might go with a v6 to get the 4WD but performance parts like camshafts are out of ths world!!! be cheaper too swap transfer cases.

keep looking you will find one with the 4x4, am sure you can convert, you would have to take a t-case out of the same year with the v-8 there will probally be some cutting and drilling to get it to fit, you might have to change driveshafts as well

Until the Explorer was redesigned in 02, you could only get 2x4 or AWD with the V8 (302) and only 2x4 or 4x4 on the V6. On the current generation Explorers however, you can get 2x4, 4x4 or AWD on both engines.
