wacked out idle problems
Ok here's the deal. 1988 f150 4x4 5.0 fuel injected. When I get in and start her up in the a.m. she fires right off and runs beautifully for about five minutes then her idle climbs to about 3k rpms so I have to run out and shut her down for fear that she'll blow. If I immediately start her back up she'll run smoothly for about 10secs then climb up to 3k again. However, if I hold the pedal down and turn the key taking my foot off the pedal as soon as she catches, she'll wind up then sputter like she's going to stall, engine light comes on and she settles into a perfect idle for the rest of the day. Engine light stays on all day. What am I doing by holding the pedal down? I've taken the idle air valve off and scrubbed it. Where do I go from here?
A code 15 is "EEC (PCM) Read Only Memory (ROM) Test failed" or
"Power interruption to computer memory or EEC (PCM) Keep Alive Memory (KAM) test failed. This sounds either like a power to computer memory fuse is blown or the computer is buggered.
My input
