selector switch not working

I have a 92 f150 and the position selector switch is not working it is stuck on defrost. ANd some times you can get it to go to vent or AC, but for the most part it blows out the defroster no matter what settign it is on, any ideas?

loose cable, slipping cable, bad switch...
if you take it to a shop, they'll probably tell you the switch is bad so they can charge you more (where they make most of their money, parts).

Where the air blows out of is controlled by vacuum. You could have a vacuum leak. You should check all of your vacuum lines including those under and behind the dash.
