high pitch squeaking noise

my 1999 ranger 4.0 liter has a chirping, squeaking noise that seems to be coming from the top back of the motor any ideas what could be the cause????

Check the camshaft position sensor. It is where the distributor would be. The plastic housing holding the sensor may have melted causing the rotating lobe to shear off.
