Working on installing Nu-relics power windows in my '53 with one piece glass... I'm gonna get with them tomorrow probably
I'm wondering if anyone with a slant cab and one piece curved glass has used the Nu-relics lifters? Talked to JOHN from Canada
but he has a '56 with flat glass...
I love my Nu-relics. But I too have a 56 with one piece flat glass. Sorry John. If I remember correctly there's a bit of door modification on slant cabs. My 56 only required a few new holes being drilled.
I have installed the one-piece side windows in both the slant cabs and 56 doors. The issue with slant cabs is that the leading edge of the window glass, the part where the vent window was removed, has less glass in the channel than the 56 which has a more rectangular shape. This window shape makes it easier for the glass to "wobble" between the front and rear channels. This results in a binding that may put more load on the motor and lift mechanisms. Newer vehicles compensate for this by lifting the glass at two points, usually at the front and rear of the glass, which makes for a more stable movement of the glass in the channels. I have a Nu-relics kit in my stash but have yet to try it out...from the design it looks to be a more stable mechanism. Good luck with your install...

BJ do you recall if the 56 one piece kit from Nu-Relics included everything you need including the fuzzies? Did they also have the glass available? Was it an easy install?
I had already installed a crappy system. The NuRelic was VERY easy to install. Drilled a few holes and it was in. Switch's either came with the kit or were an option at check out. No fuzzies came with the kit. I had the one piece glass and the associated channels for the windows (from Mid Fifty).

What switches did you go with ? I'm probably going to go with the nu-relic regulators with the window handle switches
I was going to use the window cranks but it looked like there was an interference problem so I mounted the chrome switches in my console.
Ok, thanks. I talked to nu-relic yesterday and they said that there is no inerference issue, because the regulator is notched, the switch sits in that notch.
He also said a lot of people mount the switch to the regulator before installing it into the door, instead of mounting it to the door.
I installed their unit and then decided what switch to use. Keep us posted with some pictures if ya don't mind. I've got several other projects and cranking windows is just too old school for this old man.
