Coolant hose.

My belt has a tendency to start squeaking after a decent drive. Anyways I popped the hood and was greeted with a nice spray of coolant right into the serp belt. This happened as of today. My question is, how crucial is it that this section is this shape, can I get away with just a length of coolant hose to replace it?
I managed to get home, an awful shriek the entire way (coolant spraying my belt). I didn't drive it long like this.

X marks the spot
I figured I'd do this instead of chase my way up a deteriorating hose, as I need the truck to work now. I'll order a new formed piece for a proper fix.
(Of course it blasted my serp belt with grimy coolant, so it sounds like an HD recording of hell.)
The hose is cracked as well, not worth it.
