223 SPARK PLUGS

My usual supplier says they can no longer get Autolite 46 spark plugs They think 295 is a replacement. Anybody have a recommendation?

I have no idea about 295? I've been using 45's in all my Y's and 223 for ever, hope they aren't going away too.

45 would be a range cooler?

Yes, but my engines see a lot of hiway driving. 46 would be better for your running around locally but I wouldn't be afraid to try them if you can get them.

I found them at O'Reilly's. My local store said "in stock." I was in another town and stopped in a branch there. They were out of stock but another branch had 12. My local store had only one. Glad I didn't stop on way home at my local store.

I recently did a tuneup (8/11/2024) and purchased a set of Autolite 46 from NAPA and they were in stock.

Here’s a photo of the plugs I pulled before adjusting the carb and the box of the new plugs.

BTW - I just sold my 1960 F-100 on Monday (9-2-2024) and I’m already missing it, and looking on this FTE forum.

Mine would soot up really fast before I replaced the carburetor. I thought everything was fine but they did it again after liots of shirt runs I did have it idling 45 minutes gassing gophers and then let it idle a littke with choke on.
