Was towing the 5th wheel over the holiday weekend, and at one point, relatively flat interstate, my check engine light came on with the message "Reduced Engine Power". The truck never slowed down or seemed to have any lack of power. I was towing at 70 mph, but slowed it down a little for the rest of the drive home. This has never happened before. Outside temps were warm (around 90), but engine/oil/transmission temps all seemed to be within normal ranges. I've since driven to work and had the engine started a few times. The light persists, but no noticeable change in driving performance. Haven't had a chance to pull a code yet, but will do right after work today. My stupid local dealer is 2 months out on service appointments.
You have to get the code read, can't tell anything without it.
Either go to the parts store and get them to scan it for you, or buy a scan tool and do it yourself.
Anything anyone says without the code is purely guessing, hundreds of possible causes for your issue.
