Just curious - is there any difference in cabs from say an F600 vs. a F250 4x4? (that is models with the older floorpan with a step inside the door) What I'm trying to say is - would a cab from a truck as large as an F600 bolt onto a pickup frame? (i.e. F100-F350) Thanks for any info!
I've looked at a few of those cabs on the heavier trucks in my search for a good cab too. What I've found are differences in the firewall and front floor/cab mounts as the steering column comes up at a different angle. A swap is not impossible but would take some fairly major surgery.
The Big truck cabs seem quite similar despite the different floorpan. As well many of them have a higher roof which I assume was for hard hats at the construction site or something. It would be interesting to see one on a smaller truck.
The F600 cab is a exact bolt on for 61-66 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 models and the 61-65 half ton 4x4 trucks as long as they are the straight axle front end and not the twin-I-beam models. (I know because I just installed a 64 F600 cab on my factory four wheel drive half ton truck with no changes needed) I will say I did reinstall the battery mount on front of the cab rather than the floorboard to make getting to the battery easier. The 65-66 cabs have several differences such as the heater and the air vents but other than that they are a direct bolton without any problems. Hope this information helps. Lewis
