Tire Wear

I have a 2002 F250 4x4 7.3L with 60,000 miles and 285/75/16 tires. I just purchased it, used, 2 weeks ago.

It is showing a lot of wear on the inside of the front tires. I had it aligned and the tech said that the toe was off slightly, but everything else, including the shocks and pressure, were in spec.

The back tires are showing the same wear pattern, but the tech said that they were probably on the front and then rotated to the back, rather than getting the wear while on the back.

The tech said that he wasn't sure why the tires would be showing so much wear. It is possible that the dealer or previous owner aligned it before I bought it, but if not, does anyone have any idea what might be causing the excessive wear?

If he said everything was good then I guess you'll have better wear now hopefully. I would think toe could do that..

Thanks.

The tech thought that the wear was excessive given the adjustmenets he made.

Hopefully, the dealer had already made some more major adjustments that fixed the problem and the wear will be normal now.

Toe + over-inflation= riding on that one edge of the tire= excessive wear on that edge. Tires out of balance also contributes. So, what the tire guy said makes sense to me.
Just run 'em for what's left of them then get new tires and start from scratch. You'll be fine...
