I rebuilt my e4od last year on my 97 7.3 f350. I had one issue from the start. Everything else worked well. When warm reverse would barely engage. I diagnosed that it was likely the lip seals on reverse housing(or whatever it’s called). I tore it apart recently to fix and found I was correct. Complete rookie I put lip seals in backwards. I redid the lip seals and put tranny back together. Removed parts without opening any housings as it was just rebuilt last year.
Reverse now works. However a brand new issue popped up that wasn’t there the day I pulled it apart. It now has slow engagement of both first and reverse. Basically feels likes it lugging badly. Other than lug in first it seems to shift great. In light of everything working day before I tore it apart again what could it be? I’m hoping maybe low/rev valve just needs cleaning. I’m pretty sure I’m good on fluid but I always have a hard time nailing the level.
