A/C Compressor Compatibility
I'd like to replace the a/c compressor that's beginning to fail in my 2004 6.0l Excursion with the rear a/c intact. I'd like a motorcraft compressor. Can I use the YCC-489 from a gasser and change out the clutch to accommodate pulley size difference? Can I use a YCC-492 from a 2004 F250 SD 6.0L?

So I guess the question boils down to is the compressor volume different between the Excursion and the F250 Superduty, or do they use the same base compressor and compensate for the larger cooling capacity of the Ex with a smaller pulley size to increase flow with a smaller pulley diameter? I really don't want to use the cheap Chinese knockoffs because they have no quality control programs and want to do this once for the next 10 years.

when looking for AC Compresssors, there is no distinction between the two.
the compressor numbers are the same, at least when I bought mine, they were.
