Is the Ranger 2.7 engine the same 2.7 engine that is in the F150?

 

Not sure if exactly the same. The 2.7 in the F-150 is rated at 325 HP and 400 lbs torque. In the Ranger it is rated at 315 HP but the same torque. I have no idea why there is a difference in HP between the Ranger and F-150.

 

Thanks for the reply. Thinking about getting a new Ranger. The 2.7 in the F150 is a good engine, so hopefully it would also be good in the Ranger.

 

But where are all the Rangers with a 2.7 engine? I have not seen any in dealerships near me.

 

I think most of them are being built with the 2.3 as the 2.7 is a option. Just my wild guess.

 

Hello, I am a retired FOMOCO Experimental / Prototype engine mechanic and I can tell you that the 2.7L V6 Ecoboost engine that is going into the 2024 Ranger is the same as the F150 2.7L. The only difference being the tuning for the two different trucks. We are waiting for our 2024 Ranger XLT FX4 right now and it will have the 2.7L in it. Should be getting it real soon.
