Front Auto/Locking hubs

Just wondering if anyone is having trouble with the combo hubs on their super duty? Mine dont always seem to want to unlock easily when used it auto setting. Also noticed some front end vibration and am looking for exploded views/instructions on dissamble & bearing/hub repacking...:

As far as I am concerned, automatic engaging hubs are a poor excuse for 4x4. The newer generations seem to have gotten better, but they still arent great. Youre best bet might be to post this question into the SD forum as well.

Take a look through these threads. There maybe something of interest in them. Look at the responses from Steve83.

Just quick note to last thread, these new hubs are a combonation hub to, what I believe, satisify both situations. you can either use them as an automatic w/shift on fly dash control, or when plowing snow I can lock them for positive 4-wheel in forward or reverse. The manual lock side work as it should, and unlocks when turned back. Its just doesn't feel as if its unlocking even after backing up for a considerable distance in automatic position. I believe all the 2000 and newer superduty's with shift on fly have these...

Just quick thanks to rlh, did read steve83's threads. None of these seem to be my problem although he sounds like he either knows what's going on or can't afford Fords service department like myself. Better yet I agree with someone best idea shoot the service dept.!!!!!!!

I wish those combination hubs came with three settings - locked, auto, and free. That way you could unlock them if the auto part failed to unlock or broke.

Those junk hubs left me in the sand below the high water mark while fishing from the beach in Hatteras NC. I changed them over to manual locking hubs and have not had a problem scince.
