Your manager is correct. They started doing that I think in the 90's, sender looks the same as a red-light sender. Your factory gauge is checkable if you have a shop manual. Did you use a CVR in your conversion to 12 volts?
I had a friend electrical engineer make a reducer for the gauges and connected them per Scotty’s F3 post on his truck. Seem to work fine but I still need to wire wiper motor and interior light, stop lights etc with turn signal I’ll also install.
Lots of premade hoses out there. Lots of manufactures used a flexible oil line back in the day. I know that Studebaker, ******, Jeep, etc used them. Do a google search for "flexible oil pressure hose"
anyone used the flex hose from a grease gun? considering it,but concerned with quality of the hose and the outer cover deteriorating these are usually about 18" long, have 1/8" npt ends, and can be lengthened with a 1/8" npt connector
I went slightly different in the layout but the same idea, a brass tee with the gauge and the OEM oil sender on end... (NOTE, the OEM Oil Gauge Sending Unit has an 'UP' mark that needs to be facing up for proper operation!)
... and yes, there is a different ignition distributor based on the GM-HEI system in our 226-H motor. Runs great!
Below, is the temp gauge on the heater hose return to the water pump..
BACKGROUND: The exhaust headers from Red's eliminated the 226-H's OEM exhaust manifold, (and it's heat riser), under the intake manifold...
On top of the cut-down intake manifold, sits the aluminum 2 barrel adaptor block. It has engine coolant passages on both ends to warm up the base of the carburetor for better overall operation...
Below.
This was 2021 when the work on the headers and intake manifold install took place... (look how clean & white those headers were!)

Thanks for your posting. You have a great set up for your motor.
I also have a set of Red’s headers and I am very interested in swapping out the loadamatic distributor with an updated carb.
Looks like you have the solution.
I’d welcome knowing more about how and what you did.
maybe best for me to pm you.
thanks
