Vacuum Pump delete and Hydroboost
I got two questions for ya for my 1984 F250 6.9 2wd:
1. I am looking to delete my vacuum pump - I am switching to Hydroboost brakes, I don’t have any climate control (no defrost or heat or anything) so I’m removing that, and I deleted cruise control. But does the C6 AT still need vacuum to shift?
2. For the Hydroboost swap, I do not have a salvage yard available anywhere (on an island) so I have to order all parts new. I know I need the power steering pump and appropriate hoses and the Hydroboost mechanism itself, but do I need anything else? I’ve heard some talk of needing the brake pedal off of a newer truck?
mahalo for all the help, this place is invaluable

There is a small difference in the pedal, being where the pushrod mounts. If you have access to a welder, you could modify your existing pedal. I did that after seeing someone do it. I believe it was just removing the pin, drilling a new hole for it in the proper spot and welding it all up. It should come up in a search.
My 1990 F350 7.3 with factory air has a vacuum reservoir molded into the side of the housing in the engine compartment adjacent to the valve cover.
I had to cut it off the housing to remove the rear 2 pushrods, and will replace it with a canister.
My 1986 6.9 with cruise control had a metal canister. Dunno if it had the one on the heater housing. It burnt up in a barn fire.....
Those canisters are quite common on older cars and trucks and a trip to junkyard should yield one.
I miss the 86. It was an extended cab 4x4 with an interior that looked like an LTD and it had lived in CA desert, not a spec of rust....wood grain dash and a big bench seat for makin' love....
