I got the first set. They’re very beefy, well made. I’m going to have mine polished.
The cost to me was 400.00 plus the ride. Ken manufactures them, but his friend Wayne, an FTE member, handles the sales.
Wayne relayed to me that out of each bar of the aluminum stock, which costs over one thousand dollars, he can make five trims. Thus, the price is reflected in the cost. I consider it fair, as these trims are sure to be a permanent purchase, they’ll outlast all FTE members, and most of our trucks..
Bear in mind, that Ken, who makes these, is normally doing very large runs of parts for other entities. The sooner he has firm orders, the quicker they’ll get to you. I will say, this is likely the only chance you’ll ever have to secure a set of high quality trim rings, they are well made.
I hope that even half the people that expressed interest buy from him. As previously stated in an earlier thread, the man producing these is normally doing very large runs of parts for others, and he’s doing these not because they are lucrative for him, but rather as a favor . This is likely the last opportunity Slick owners will have to get a set of these.

Shipping is very reasonable! For me it was 32 dollars. Not bad for an investment that will last a lifetime!
I called and talked to Wayne yesterday and confirmed my two sets, but he said that they needed to get some more aluminum stock - they are definitely not making a big run of them like they did back in the day since they didn't sell very fast, and they sat on them for quite a while. Sold some on consignment at the time, too.
He asked me about my trucks, and I mentioned the '64 XL and he said he was the person who helped (re)locate the 1963 427 XL race truck back in I think he said 2005. Good guy to talk to. He knows the guy that ended up with the 427 XL and it's still being raced.
Couple of magazine articles on the 427 XL in this thread if you haven't read or heard about it before.
I am hoping Wayne will show up and start a new thread about this - I did ask him to consider doing so - as he had a hand in relocating it in recent years.

Hello Everyone!
Wayne here, I'm still around and the video of the XL was done in Pigion Forge Tn at the Nationals from what I understand. John M is a friend of mine who hauls this around to various shows for the late owner Bill N. I was involved in the beginning when it was resting in the carport. Glad its out in the sunlight now where it is getting some fans along the way. Fun conversation piece for sure!
Far as trim rings for door pockets. I started this a long time ago to have a solution more for myself at the time and when I showed them at the Nationals one year people showed some interest. Funny enough, trucks were still trucks at the time and not bringing big dollars like they are today, plus the repop door pockets were not heard of yet. It was hard to find decent set of used door pockets and even harder to find in tact trim rings. A friend of mine machines parts as a small production shop. We were able to draw them up and run a few pair off and marketed them through Tom and Kathy at Flashback for a number of years. It was very low interest due to above issues sourcing pockets and when we sold out, we moved onto the billet scuff plates for the inside step found on the 61-64 cabs + 4x4 cabs. They sold better than the trims at the time. Obviously the material has gone way up but Ken is ordering 2-3 bars (12 foot length) and agreed to run some more off. Reach out if interested.
I received mine yesterday. I think I will polish mine also, so they more closely match the upper trim. The second puc is the plastic one bottom is the aluminum one.
Good Day Everyone,
For everyone who contacted me on trim rings, I spoke with Ken this week and he is recovering from covid which set him back a few weeks. He is a little behind on his current run of fuel rails but expects to switch to trims soon as his current run finishes up. Stay tune for updates. If anyone else has not placed an order or has any questions, please reach out via text. Thx Wayne 302-893-0749

I’ll bet you Internet Brands owns both sites. Big Brother is a bit confused?
