I have the automatic lockouts from inside the cab. I am wanting to put in manual lockouts in the front axle. I will need a conversion kit for the lockouts.
So, has anyone done this and if so, do you have parts numbers or where you bought the items from.
I am considering WARN lockouts.
The automatic hubs are inside the truck? That’s odd. I looked at the Warn website and saw this in less than a minute
Sure. Lots of people have converted from auto to manual hubs. I liked the auto hubs I had on the ‘94 Bronco. When I broke them (my fault) I replaced them with another set of auto hubs.
I had auto hubs on my 95 F150 for years but when I swapped out the electric shift transfer case for a manual shift version I installed Warn manual hubs. Just removed the auto hubs and bolted in new Warn manual hubs. No problems and they work well.
Depending on where you live, junkyards may still have these.
They show up in our yards from time to time- and the nice part is, you get to
learn how to take them apart on someone else's rig. So if you break something,
you just go find another truck and try not to break that. Some parts wear and fail,
but the manual hubs usually only get rusty or stuck...
You just need new wheel bearing nuts and the locking hubs
You will be discarding your original locking nut and retainer
You will be using the two new nuts and washer plate on each side,
The washer with all the holes goes between the two nuts with the pin on the inner nut
Watch a video or two, 32720 or 28068X are the nuts
Some of the kits I see have the nuts but are double the price
Get the factory style Warn hubs with the plastic piece you turn (better IMO than the brass ones) (do not get sticky)

That button just engages/desengages the t-case, the auto hubs are all mechanical and do thier thing on thier own, they lock when the driveshaft starts rotating and unlock when the direction of drive is reversed. That is why/how they get destroyed.. simply getting stuck and rocking the truck between forward and reverse can smash the auto locking mechanism.

Just curious, if reversing the direction of the driveshaft disengages them, how do they work in reverse? Is it similar to a ratchet, with on-off-on?
