The cluster mileage in my 94 F 150 looked like a piece of crumpled tin foil. The cluster from the engine doner F250 is in perfect condition. However are the psom’s the same? I still have the original cluster and wonder if that is the reason for the 452 code with the overdrive light blinking.
The needle from the doner reads steady. I was just wondering if the doner psom was programmed for the F250.
I still have to fix the blinking overdrive problem. I may try replacing the sensor on the banjo housing.
PSOM themselves are interchangable within the years and some of the E-vans PSOMs work on F trucks too.
Instrument clusters are year specific though without additional modifications.
Some people have got rid of code 452 by swapping PSOMs out with different ones. I got rid of a 452 by doing nothing more than cleaning the wire connector to the PSOM. (Must have had corrosion inside of it).
There are many possibilities for code 452 and usually the only way to find out what the cause is is by process of elimination. Failed RABS or 4WABS or corrosion in the several wire connectors sending the signal often the problem. Also, a damaged tone ring in rear axle has caused issues often.
Many initially blame the VSS sensor in rear axle and switch it out with zero improvement so if you remove a Motorcraft VSS, save it until you can prove it is the problem.
Process of elimination should be used before spending big money trying to fix 452.
A jumper wire bypassing most of the wiring harness connectors carrying the PSOM signal could reveal a lot in a short period of time.
