Hello everyone previously posted on the general F250 forum. My Air Conditioner starts to blow warm air after driving for a little while. It will blow cold air and normal for a little while and then just kind of gives up you can start smelling the AC system is off anyhow got it to the dealer yesterday and this is what they did. What do you guys think? Do you think they positively identified the issue? It seems they are hinting and hoping.
Don't know what year truck you have but common problem on Fords is excessive clutch gap or bad clutch magnet. Of course it would get a new clutch with a new compressor but you might just need to adjust the clutch gap.
Looks like you already got this fixed, but I agree with the report - sounds like a weak compressor to me. Like others said clutch gap or weak engagement could also present like a weak or bad compressor, but most shops wont rebuild clutches or A/C compressors anymore - we have progressed into a disposable society - they would rather replace the entire thing and call it a day. I have rebuild kits in the top drawer of my tool box that have been there for 20 years - I guess I will keep them another 20 years before I throw them out. LOL
