I know that color threads are a bit like tire ones. A lot of them out there. But here's my question. I have not heard of the color "Frost Green" for the 1973 Ford pickups. It looks like a great color to me based on this old For Sale Post.
See this link (https://classiccars.com/listings/vie...s-nevada-89109).
When I finally get to painting, I would like it to be an official color but not my current yellow and brown. I had planned on limestone green but now that looks too intense to me (see this link....and it's for sale even....https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-ford-f-250-32/)
Wondering if the description of "Frost Green" is just a guess by the seller? When I look at the paint chips for standard colors for 73, there is no such color. If you look in the parts manual...you wont find it either, at least I didn't. But it's also not on the chip list below of 'standard' colors.
So...is "Frost Green" an authentic 1973 Ford pickup color? Anyone know. I looks to me like it could be mis-labeled and actually be "Scandia Green Poly".
Putting Frost Green in a google search pulls this up. It may be that during the restoration that the builder just picked a color they liked, despite the original manufacturer that it belonged to.
My truck is Jade Glow, but I"m not sure it was available in 73. Mine's a 77.
This one is not mine, but what my paint would look like new. Mine's old and has that rusty "patina" some enjoy.
The only problem I have with green, is the green interior parts are unobtanium. I need a new green dash in my Dark Jade Metallic 77, but they're not out there. Really don't want to have to spend the money on a black one, and dye it without knowing how it will turn out. May just go with a black one and keep the green door cards and seat.
Colors and their names are things that I have noticed the most exacting person gets wildly wrong when naming.
Looks real close to 1973 Ford Truck Scandia Green (AKA: Medium green ford cars) Ford M3462, PPG 2289, SW3076 :
there is also a close one called Lime Gold (67-69 Ford cars) or Lime Frost / Medium Lime (1967-1969mercury cars) but not offered in trucks, just cars - Ford M4021 , 43576 PPG:( I think this one looks closer and has name Frost in it)
Truck in question:
Thanks McLeod. Those are great pics. very helpful. i certainly have time to decide given the truck's current un-togetherness.

Couldn't you use a two pack paint for plastic? Risky I know, but it's designed to flex. I can't imagine you'd be able to dye it green, but never tried.

Those products to recolor plastics is not dye. Not sure where that term comes from.
The manufacturers all call them COATINGS as they reside on the surface of the part, unlike a dye that is absorbed into the item
