I have a 93 f-150 with the 300 six EFI and the mazda m-50 trans. I wonder if someone here could tell me what parts I'd need to get, to change to an automatic transmission? I need to know what transmission would work, and what later model vehicles (cars and trucks) that it could be salvaged from. Besides a new radiator, what parts (or assemblys) would I need? I know that pedals and steering column parts must come from another truck, but I'd like to find a trans from a newer vehicle if possible. I apreciate any help.
It would be much easier and cheaper to go with an AOD.
With a newer trans, you may need a new computer and all the wiring.
Besides what you already mentioned you would need a new flexplate and possibly a shorter driveshaft. TV cable and brakets (for AOD). Relocate the X-member.
I'm sure there's more but that's all off the top of my head (ate waaay too much!) :-)
