Thanks Jim that’s something I would never have thought of. When I rebuilt my carb I went with the spec I had. I don’t remember what it was but I followed that. I can probably find it if I dig back a ways. Do you remember where your Floyd are set?
I think bmoran4 has answered your question about the float level spec for your engine. I6's like mine have glass bowl carbs. The recommended fuel level is just at the top of a little oval that is incorporated into the design of the Holley glass bowl. The distinctive oval design feature, and the glass bowl, make adjustments to the carb float easy. It is always stressful, however, because leaks are common between the glass bowl and the body of the carb. If the glass bowl is not leaking, I don't like to mess with it.
Good luck. It's really helpful to have someone like bmoran4 around to have just the information you need right at his finger tips.
I can’t thank you guys enough! I just adjusted the float in my carburetor twice, I had it too low the first time. I double checked the specification and got it to where it needed to be, 9/32 for my carburetor. Had it out for drive today and it ran much better. Had it up and down hills with no issues. I believe the problem is solved.
