you can ask for the Premium Pump at O'Reillys, it is about $200 compared to ~$60 for the regular one they offer.
as for the Starter, the one on the truck is doing a good job, but I bought a spare from a Rebuilder last year, it is an OEM frame starter that he rewound to be "hell for stout".
May not ever need it, but.....
My son has carried a new Starter and Water Pump & Alternator in his 2004 Dodge Cummins since he bought it new.... they never got used, until he and I started towing my sister's farm stuff from Utah to Oklahoma this year
on the first trip, his Alternator died in Gallup, NM
on the 2nd trip, the water pump started leaking out the weep hole.
both times, he was able to get back on the road within an hour
if only we had some extra storage space, I would have a lot of spare parts lol. I’ll take a look at the fuel pump. After I had a wheel hub go out on a beach trip in April, I put together a tool bag and torque wrench and keep it in my Excursion. Plan to do the same for my SD.
I am a KISS guy. IMO a stock Bosch pump with an FRx to remove air to the injectors is all anyone needs.
Previous threads here on FTE show the OEM fuel system, with good tunes, can support 513 HP with huge injectors.
I'd suggest the best way forward is to measure fuel pressure. Put a dedicated fuel pressure gauge on it, all these trucks need one. If FP drops under 50 psi WOT, only then do you need more fuel.
@aawlberninf350 I too like the KISS methodology. I recently read through a lot of BWSTs posts on his build/maintaining thread and came to the same conclusion on the stock fuel system thus retracting my plans to upgrade to the fuel pump. I did install a ISS fuel pressure gauge in the truck.
I am now looking at the hutch mod along with moving the pump to the tank so that it’s submerged. Came across this in a thread yesterday. The individual has been running the in tank setup for decades with no issues. Thoughts?

Posting old links sometimes don't get the job done as well as intended any more. Back in the 200x decade, the policy of this website made it difficult to upload images in the posts that were made, but there were options to store them at another website. It worked well enough until that website changed and now all those links to pictures are no longer functioning. Anyway......
Here are some pictures of what I did back then and I am still running the same fuel pump as then without ever having a single failure. Basically weld on a fitting at the appropriate height to accomodate the fuel pump. Remove the factory fuel pump from the frame rail and jump the gap with some fuel injection rated fuel line and double clamp both ends, jumping the ridge that the quick connect grabs onto with one clamp and the other clamp on the other side of the ridge. Pictures are worth more than 1,000 words in this case.
on my motorcycle forum, I used to use PhotoBucket to host all of my images.
I had a LOT of technical articles that required those images....
then PB decided that you must pay a minimum $$$ rate per year, which killed it for me, now all of those threads are now junk....
so, I now always post the images inside the forum itself.
Image hosting and storage got terrible there for awhile with photo bucket. So many threads on many forums are not extinct because images are gone. Now probably Google drive or equivalent is better option?
@FordTruckNoob Your setup looks similar to Kwikks. Looking at it briefly, I cannot see 100% what the differences may be. I just know I don’t have the capacity to weld anything. Though, I guess I could find a weld shop.

Mine does not have any welding involved. I used AN/JIC flare fittings instead.

I like it! I just went back and read your post in detail since I got a little break. Good that you were able to eliminate the noise by raising the mushroom.
looks like I would need some 10 gauge wire, -6 AN fittings, Bosch 0 580 254 044, and the new connector. Now here comes the questions haha:
1. What size tubing did you use?
2. The seal glades - any details?
3. The relay - assume standard? (forget the number)
4. Did you end up leaving your pre filter in?
