08 External Trans Filter -- its empty. Why? *PICS*

Changed the External Filter and looking inside there is no media, paper, etc. Its hollow I guess.
You can see the backside spot welds if you look close, its best pic I could get.
Am I seeing stuff, anyone know if this is correct? The old one was same way. This is the return or feed side not sure. You can see the back side of filter lol. This is just a straight tube.
