Two months ago I blew a hpop line, I had a spare. Never really drove the truck much, maybe 70 miles. Runs like garbage, jerks and bucks. Took off today with the 5er thinking the air would bleed out, it never did after 260 miles. I struggled on the hills, downshifting a lot. Higher rpms it痴 ok but really runs rough. No leaks, no codes but never cleared out!! Tomorrow I go another 260 miles but at this point I don稚 think it痴 going to get any better. Should I crack open a plug on the head with it running to see if any air comes out? Mileage is down and power is down. Any suggestions would be great! I値l be in one spot for a week before heading out again so I can try some things out to fix it. This just doesn稚 make any sense, Thanks
Hi Glenn. It was running fine before the line blew? The running rough happened at the same time? Have you checked the tin nut on the ipr? Fuel pressure ok? What's your pressure and duty cycle doing? Has that changed?
Any chance it could be low fuel pressure? Just had this happen to me over the weekend on my 00, the inline filter I had installed got clogged up with debris luckily I had a spare in the glove box.
My symptoms were something like yours, injectors sounded louder, they ticked more than normal low mpg, no power going up hills bucking and jerking and black smoke.
Hi old friend, yes it was running fine before the line blew. 65psi fuel pressure, duty cycle and hpop pressure look good. Tin nut is on, replaced ipr, cps, cpr, etc. last year. I値l post back tonight when I get to Omaha, if I make it.
Hi Adam, I知 getting lots of black smoke at low rpm痴. At higher rpm痴 the boost will fluctuate 3-4 pounds with cruise right along with the bucking. New fuel filters, 65 psi pressures. Everything looks good except for the way it痴 acting.
low boost and hotter on one one side feels like a boost leak to me
Clean up the boots and re install them
if its a plenum, you will need to do a boost leak test with a compressor and some soapy water
I don稚 think it痴 low boost, my boost was right up to 35 to 40. Right now I知 thinking I lost an injector on the D side. Of course I could be all wet. BUT, if an injector quits because the armature plate is loose will it throw a code?
I just did a cont test and got p0196 which is not listed? I properly should get the oil warmer and try again. Thursday I have time and I知 going to pull D side valve cover off to investigate. In my mind I致e lost an injector, D side is running cooler because of only 3 injectors firing ver 4 injectors on P side.
As Darin asked, it痴 weird two things happened at the same time. Two months the ox sat there and I could have been working on it but I was convinced it was air in the hpop system.

P0275 cont test code. My gut was wrong, looks like P side is getting taken off first in the morning. Please correct me if I知 wrong but it痴 1, 3, 5, 7 counting from front of motor to the back on P side, right? Thanks for all your input!
