Hi. I have a 2021 F250 with a 6.2 and a 6 speed trans. It had 40k on it. I have noticed during slow speeds like in stop and go traffic when you Inch forward by just taking your foot off brake and apply no gas the truck goes into a bad lurching/jerking/bucking fit. It is able to be duplicated every time. Kind of feels like the trans or rear diff area? No lights have come on the dash and other than a harsh 6-5 down shift at times the truck runs flawless. Any ideas what to look for? Thanks!

I would crawl under the truck, and check the transmission fluid level first!!!
I have checked the fluid level with it cranking hot. It is dead on the mark between the A and B line. Greased slip yolk and made sure e brake was not sticking. No codes at all. Almost.feels like a possible misfire but no light comes on. I have wet the plug wires and can see no arking or change in idle.

Then it is time to put it up on four jack stands, get the transfer case in neutral,
and rotate each wheel to isolate your drivetrain problem.
I have two trucks that exhibit the behavior you're describing. My 2022 F250 does the bucking and surging when coasting downhill in 5th gear, and my 2024 F250 does the same when coasting downhill in 7th gear. Its as if the transmission is going back and forth between neutral and drive and the driveline neutrals out and then loads up again multiple times until throttle is reapplied.
Ive gone over the truck myself for the mechanical parts outside of the transmission and fluid/valve body inside transmission, nothing seems wrong. Ive brought it by the dealership for any software updates and diagnostic as I can easily reproduce it for the Techs to witness. All of that and ive got no answer aside from it just seems like poor programing function of the transmissions. No stored DTC's or anything to go off of.
It's a very odd issue yet seems common with no fix. You would think ford could change the programing. Mine does feel like it is "hunting for the correct gear"
I tow some fairly heavy stuff daily with either of my trucks and it concerned me at first but after 3,000mi on the 2022 and 13,000mi on the 2024 nothing seems to be breaking or getting any worse. Im not enthused about it but I keep checking the fluid every so often and there is no metal or burnt smell so im just living with it Of course the dealership is no help as they would only do what ive already done checking things externally and the fluid.
I have the Torqshift-G transmissions in my trucks. I have other company trucks with the Torqshift-HD transmissions that dont exhibit this behavior.
