Granted, I do not live at high elevation. Maybe it's totally different at high elevation. I'm just below 1,000 feet. But, I've had 15 to 20 full size trucks over the last 30 years. Mostly gas engines, some diesels. Currently in a diesel. I have never at any time or any condition seen hand calculated numbers from a diesel that are double the MPG. Typically the difference is more on the order of 20-25% while towing and 15-20% while unloaded. Then you have to consider that diesel fuel costs more than gasoline. So there is ZERO savings between the two trucks.
Where the gas trucks will save money is maintenance, simplicity, and cost of parts. As the miles rack up, ownership costs on a gas truck stay very low. Not the case with a diesel.
Not sure I would go that far with those fragile lifters.... Let's see how that new flash from Ford works with increasing oil pressure, and then make a conclusion.

Better than the CP4 grenading, or bad fuel wiping it all out, or the oil pan leak, or the DEF issues, or the dozens of other emissions faults that could leave one stranded?
Poor diesel bros....

Yeah OK...
Says the guy who doesn't even keep his truck past 100k miles if even that...

See ya at 500k miles...
Sincerly,

Oooohhhhh....I'm so impressed. Not.
The sad thing is, all I said was that the 7.3L is a great engine...and here you are, triggered so bad you have to passive aggressively argue back. LoL Just can't help yourself...
Do it. The 7.3L is a great engine with more than enough power, without the fragility and expense of a diesel.

Funny how selective memory works when you're called out...
Stability on a wet boat ramp requires weight, length, and better tires than the factory will give you. I'd go crew cab long bed, and then put some Falken A/T4W tires on it. Something in the 34" tall and wider than factory ballpark.

lol you made a passive aggressive attack before Fish was even in this thread with post #6……..you got that short of a memory?
I just bought the new 2024 F350 with the high output 6.7 diesel so haven’t put enough miles on it yet to tow but really looking forward to see the fuel mileage towing a 36’ camper when I can. In the last few months here in south Florida the price of gas has been inching closer to the diesel prices and about 13 cents difference now.
Sorry for the late reply. I don’t fly a desk for a living and am on a family vacation. Trailer, boat, motors and fuel will be about 12,000 and overall length of trailer is about 40 feet in length. Local towing in and around the Tennessee area. Yes, have 3.73 gears and electronic locking axels spec’s. When not towing it will be a part time daily driver.
I mean that sounds good and if it’s your justification on truck choice you gotta go with what works for you my friend…..but i use both gas and diesel trucks and am happy with both for their purpose
The diesel is a much more capable truck but there’s still a place for the gas job too. No need to justify your choice to anyone at the end of the day I suppose

This thread is about the OP, not me. I already bought the truck I chose 8 months ago. Reread his first post
