i am in the process of swapping my 84 f150 4x4 from a C6 to a NP435 and i was wondering about the 4x4 shifter. i saw that the trans tunnel piece i got for the NP has a spot for a second shifter, and now I'm wondering if all manuals use that spot or if some are on the side like the automatics. when i looked at the shifters shape and where they mounted on the transmission they looked nigh identical but now I'm uncertain. either way i guess I'm gonna have to block off one or the other
Sorry I cant say as I dont have a 4x4.
I can tell you that the shifter floor pans between the T18 and the SROD are different where the shifter comes thru.
SROD shifter pan hole to the rear.
T18 pan to the left hole forward. The SROD pan mod for the NP435 and AA OD stick to come thru as I did not want to cut hols in my new floor pans.
Test fitting
Everything in place
Dave ----
The only difference is where the holes are as the T18 / NP435 stick comes out forward on the pan and the SROD to the rear.
Because I was never going to use the SROD in my truck and may rebuild the T18 and use it with out the over drive I want ed to keep the T18 pan and why I cut up the SROD pan to work with the over drive and NP435, that now moved back 7.5 inches.
