Very informative. I do tend to buy the best oils for my engines and the only time I used an additive was when I put Rev-X into my 6.0. My wife, unprompted, said it was running a lot quieter - if she noticed it there really was a major difference in the sound. Obviously now there’s no need with the current truck - no HEUI.

Who still uses oil additives? We don't put enough miles on the oil as it is to even use up all the additives that come in the oil as it is. Well, MOST of us don't, some don't even know what oil is. LOL

I watch Lake's videos on oil for the Porsche 996 forums. Interesting stuff. He doesn't believe in high zinc oil, he thinks that is 30 year old thinking.

Could you provide a link to that information. I watched some of his videos and haven't come to that conclusion.

It is on youtube on the Porsche Club of America site one year ago, "How to keep your Porsche running right, oils, fuel and additives. The video is 1:03.34 long.
Lots of good all around info.

I watched the video and it had good information, but the only reference to ZDDP was about it and the new calcium additive countering each other.
