!989 F-150 5.8, C6, 4x4, XLT Lariat. This was a wood hauler when I bought it a couple months back. It's a money pit now. It started when I first checked it out, ran rough, smoked, died. Towed it home thinking it was a vacuum leak, as told by PO, as told to him by previous shade tree who had died. changed plenum gasket, it was missing 2 bolts. Noticed oil level was 1" high. Changed MAP, TPS, FPR, oil and filter in that order. Jumped tank pump, changed, truck started, but only runs 2-3 minutes and dies. KOEO fuel pressure at 30 psi. Pulled plugs on pass. side, wet. Along the way added 2 bottles inj. cleaner to 10 gals. Removed and cleaned TSV. Noticed fuel return on 3/8" nipple at TSV, Fuel supply to HP pump on 5/16" nipple @ TSV. Return line had been spliced 2' from TSV. When engine dies after its run, fuel pressure immediately hits 0. Question: Are outlet lines @ TSV switched? Is that causing short run of 2-3 mins, or are leaking injectors dumping fuel pressure? If the outlet lines @ TSV removed, and tank pump energized, will fuel come out of the 3/8" TSV nipple? I had to readjust distributor, as stated, it runs. Can low fuel pressure cause injectors not to close? adding the cleaner I'm sure knocked junk loose in the system, but I'd think it'd free up the injectors. A whole side leaking? New Bosch upgrade injectors coming today. I haven't checked the new pump reverse flow check valve yet. What are your thoughts and suggestions?
