Running Rich
Got a 84 2.8....it is running really rich....if you tromp down on the gas black junk comes out the exhaust...and gasey smell...not real sure what steps to take to fix the problem.....Also if it is foggy or damp out when i first start it it wil run like crap ....not wanting 2 idle and if i put it in gear it will die...if i get it going and get out on the road seem like it wil come out of it....on a normal sunny day no problem starts right up and idle just fine...Thanks for any Help!!

On my dad's '84, we had the same problems, when it ran bad in cold or damp weather, we'd inspect the distributor cap. You might find some cracks. We'd replace it and she'd run fine again. There might be some carb issues, but I'm not adept at working on that.
