ISO Correct clutch kit
I have an 88 f150, manual 4 speed with overdrive, when I'm selecting a clutch kit on rock auto do I need a 5 speed clutch kit or 4 speed clutch kit? I've heard that the overdrive is technically a 5th gear so I am unsure which one I need.

A picture of the door tag with the transmission code would be a help so we know which transmission you have.

I agree. I did not think the overdrive 4 speed was available that year. I thought that ended in the previous generation of trucks.

If it's a separate overdrive, (A-A, Gearvendors, etc)
you'll need a 4- speed application clutch.

I don't know about the T18, but the M5 and ZF5 both have tags on the boxes that tell you what they are.

Every forward gear is counted.
