Got It Last Night
Actually, the $3,000 rebate was for a Flareside that cost $1,000 more than my Styleside. I also managed to convince the dealer about the $1,000 Owner Loyalty rebate on the 2004, and got 60 month 1.9% financing. Given that, I probably didn't pay too much more than a 2003.
I got it for $99 over X-Plan, which was still well over invoice. I suppose the discount on a 2003 would have been more. But, the only 2003 or Heritage models left were 4.2 V6 engines.
I got the XLT Supercab, and absolutely love it. I notice a very large percentage of buyers on this forum got the Crewcab. I saw how little legroom the 2003 Supercabs had, but the 2004 Supercab is plenty big for me. When I flip up the rear seats, the rear storage is really great.
After springing for the Supercab, XLT, Limited Slip, and Towing Package I realized that something had to go if I was to get the 5.4L engine. I wasn't willing to give anything up, so stayed with the 4.6L. Hey, I had a 1994 Ranger with a 2.3L I4 with 98HP, the 4.6L feels like a powerhouse to me.
I first thought about the Captains Chairs with console. Then I realized the 40/20/40 seat console felt more comfortable to me, and I still had the third seat. The driver and outboard passenger seats are exactly the same as the Captains Chairs. I read the numerous posts about them being hard and uncomfortable, but I like them. They are designed like the bucket seats in my wife's Taurus, real firm. But those are comfortable to me on long trips.
Speaking of my wife's Taurus, she never let me drive it unless she was with me. I told her she couldn't drive the F-150 unless I was with her.
Comments on the temperature readings on the Mini Computer, they seem to be pretty accurate. Ford must already have the fix.
The Ranger was a great truck. No breakdowns in 110,000 miles, just tires, brakes, plugs, etc. Still had the original clutch and shocks. But Man!! I really love this F-150. I expect it to treat me as well as the Ranger did.
