Supercab Cargo Deck/Storage Project
Unless you carry small humans & well behaved domestic creatures regularly, the rear bench is useless.
Took mine out when I redid the body mounts, wrapped the parts & stored. Major increase in practicality.
Still, the floor shape is not ideal & things like loose bagged groceries that don't stay put & end up under the seats frequently.
Also we travel using fold top bins for everything. This is the perfect surface.
Front seat was the usual place.
Plus there are things I want to carry & not be laying around taking up room.
Extinguisher, towels, set of jumper cables, some cleaning supplies & the occasional purchased item.
This fills so many check boxes.
I was thinking it would be fun to do 3 wide 'bucket' seating, with the center seat moved back so that
the kid didn't really have to be seen with us, and would have more legroom. Plus, then, the dog could
climb all over all 3 of us.

I didn't go that extreme on either of mine. I simply folded the rear seat down flat, laid down some plywood (15/32"?), and then stapled some carpet on top of that. The dogs can get in there just fine from the front (factory bucket seats), my more expensive and/or sensitive tools are locked-up and dry, and the height is about perfect.
My setup is less refined but functional. I mounted a piece of angle on the back cab wall, and on the sides of the cab, then a piece of square tube across from B pillar to B pillar, and have a few pieces of plywood sitting on that which velcro in place. Stapled some carpet to the plywood. It works well for me. This platform sits maybe 14" above the cab floor. I can fit a toolbox under there, recovery gear, chainsaw, shovel, axe, air compressor, and my basic outdoor gear kit with room to spare. On top goes temporary stuff like groceries or duffle bag or the occasional dog. I've put a sleeping pad down and slept back there a number of times too.

It's definitely strong enough to lay on. Handy place to sleep if I ever have to.

I may have to see if I can junk yard score a couple square feet of scarlet red & have some edges done.
Haven't put any thing down permanent or semi (velcro) yet.
The padding is Sam's stuff, inter-locking padded squares that has bunches of uses. About 25 bucks a pack when they have them
