Protective seat cover

I want to have a good K9 buddy of mine ride with me in my 54. It’s been off limits since I finished the restoration because of concerns for damage to the seat. Who makes a cover that fits a stock seat well?

After my seats were reupholstered:

I had someone I know that reupholsters furniture sew up covers:

I wanted covers because the Coast Guard originally had covers on the seats, and I wanted to keep the truck as I remembered it:

Good luck.

Look for "Indian blanket" style seat covers. Some are called saddle blanket seat covers. I assume you have a bench seat. If so you'll have to search for one that fits our bench seats . I got one for my 55 to preserve the original stock seat. I think it was designed for rear seats of SUV's or mini-vans.

Amazon Amazon

I don't know why this link doesn't work. Google "Saddle blanket seat covers" or "Saddleman."

Thanks Jim and Abe. There are lots of options for covers for my intended use but they are made for modern vehicles with headrests which are used to fasten the back. Abe, Ideally would like to get a fabric with a waterproof barrier.

What I found had no headrest holes. Measure the width of your seat and you'll find one. But mine was not waterproof.

Back in the day they made seat covers for cars and trucks. My buddy Morry had a bunch of them, NOS. I'm not sure if he sold them before he died. Look on eBay for old ones.

Speaking of seat covers from back in the day, I remember when I was a real little kid my dad had a 62 Rambler station wagon with the diamond embossed plastic vinyl seat covers that were popular in the 60's. The ones that you stuck to when it was hot, and left the pattern behind on your legs when you got out. They were definitely waterproof, and then some.

Those seat covers were why we didn't need seat belts until the 70's Wayne..

Jim’s photos of the canvas seat covers inspired me a few years ago to get covers made from my old worn sail covers which are made from sunbrella fabric. It’s an outdoor fabric available in a plethora of colors. My upholstery person just made them up for me no charge. The fabric was just sitting there. So the cost was zero and like the covers better than anything else.
