So, what happened to the factory manifolds? Aren't they useable? I realize they're not as great as tube headers in many respects, but at least they're better than nothing. And I think the ones on the 4.0L were better than the average stock manifolds.
If you want to keep all your EEC functions in good working order, the "O-2" sensor will need to be in its proper location in the exhaust stream, and that could be the biggest problem when searching for a MANUFACTURED header to fit your engine-vehicle configuration.
"Google-ing" the web should produce a few or more online aftermarket performance dealers. One in particular I'm pretty happy with, who just recently got their business setup on the internet, is James Duff Enterprises (www.jamesduff.com) here in Washington. I'm sure there are others spread around this big country!
Some local muffler/speed shops can and will make a custom set of headers, and will probably still be less expensive than NEW OEM replacement cast-iron manifolds along with the exhaust plumbing immediately follwing them, having the necessary threaded fittings for EEC sensors and such, assuming what your original stuff isn't serviceable and the local salvage yards aren't much of a help.

my friend did a 4.0 swap in his 2wd b II and used a set of 4.0 headers he had no problem fitting them in , ran a set of duel's threw high flow cat's and a set of warlock's . he had no problem.. as with the 4wd as long as you get them for the 4wd you should be ok .. the explorer and bII are about the same in the engine compartment and the 92 4.0 ranger should be the same so...as for the brand im not sure but im thinking jba or pase setter ... have fun
Thanks man! I just wanted to know that somebody has actually installed headers for this swap. Your the first I've found and that helps alot.
Pacesetter has a good set of headers (4X4) for a 4.0 Ranger at a reasonable price. Not sure if I'll go with duals or use their y-pipe. Either way, headers are in my future!
