1990 F150, ignition actuator issues
I ended up picking up a relatively solid 1990 F150, 68,000 miles. original owner passed away, that sort of thing. Straight six, auto 2wd, just a fun little driver. Been daily driving it this week.

So today i drove it to work, no issues, but when i went to leave work and start it, the key turn was met with a loud "CRACK!" and i knew... that factory ignition Actuator was broken. Ive seen it happen before on my other trucks.
So i opened the hood, jumped the starter solenoid with a spare piece of wire i carry for such occasions, and the truck fires up. One issue: i cannot get the truck to go out of park and into gear. so my first question, is there a way to field bypass the part that locks out the shifter, so that i am able to get the truck driving back home, and into my shop where i can tear the column apart?
Also, Ive replaced several of these ignition actuator parts before, the factory and the replacements are always aluminum. is there any place that offers a steel upgrade/ replacement?
Thanks in advance for your help.
