I ripped several CDs to a flash drive for a road trip. While driving down the road the first album ended but the radio will not let me browse to a different album on the flash drive, it just pops up a message saying for your safety some features have been disabled
He's probably trying to do this through the radio selection screen, which may not let you do this while in motion. Voice commands should always work.
However, I enjoy variety, so if it were me I'd just move all songs into one folder, load it up, and put it on shuffle. Listen to everything with no particular order. OR put all songs in one folder, if the file names are done properly they'll order themselves via album, and you can listen to them all in order that way with shuffle turned off.
From the owner's manual Sync section, should be the same for 3 and 4.
USB voice commands
Press the Voice button on your steering wheel and say any of the following commands:
“Play <name of song>”
“Play <name of album>”
^^This^^
They don't want you looking at the screen and manually searching for files and folders while driving.
Just use the voice command.
I have somewhere north of >20k songs on a thumb drive and I can get to any song, any album and any folder just with the press of the steering wheel button and a voice command.
I used Forscan to set my location to Europe or whatever it is called. I believe the change is done in the APIM. I can browse music or enter navigation addresses through the screen whenever I wish.

That doesn't throw off all settings, does it? To metric, for example.
I guess if it did you could always go into Settings manually in Sync and override...
What I find pretty stupid, is that I can hit browse, and scroll through all the songs in a folder anytime. But I can't go back one more page and scroll through the folders. LoL
