Radio USB input

Does anyone know if the USB input to the radio will support a portable CD player? The wife and I are going on a road trip and she has some CDs that she wants to listen to

I would buy software to rip said CDs to either a USB drive OR put them on your phone and play them that way. I don't think they'll support a portable CD player, but I don't know that for sure.

Never seen a CD player that has any USB output, maybe a charge port.
My home pc has a disc drive, and I just ripped my CD's and put the music on a memory stick to play in my truck.

Holy throwbacks.....
Would a portable cd player skip a lot in a Super Duty? I can't imagine wanting to carry cd's with you when they can be ripped to a thumb drive quickly and played from there. Or they can be easily added to your music library on your phone. Just a few thoughts that would allow you to still enjoy your music but not have to add any components or have to add to your belongings.

When I had a portable CD player, it had to ride on my thigh whenever I was driving anything in order to keep it from skipping. In-dash units generally didn't skip often unless I got on some REALLY bumpy roads.

My last truck had a built-in that you simply couldn't reach - it was UNDER the center seat in a cubbie hole. I don't even know if it worked.

In today's world, yeah, keep your CDs for home use or in case your computer/phone crashes, but definitely rip them to a thumb drive or put 'em on your phone for travel - takes up SO much less space on road trips.

Like was stated - rip them to a thumb drive and play from there. If you rip them into FLAC format they sound identical to the CDs. Sync 3.4 in my truck plays FLAC format files just fine.

It's hard getting old and watching the technology change through the years ( I know, I started with 8-tracks). It may be intimidating at first but it's quite easy. Our Microsoft computers have installed software that allow you to put in a CD and "Rip" (copy) the files to the hard drive. Once you have the files on your hard drive, you can organize them into files (if you want) and copy them directly to a USB drive. You get to pick which songs you want to listen to and can change the files (play list) at will (with a computer). Youtube can help as well as your children or grandchildren (although I have to help my grand children figure it out, they are only 18).
It helps to be a life long learner, Ok I'll shut up and finish my coffee. Happy travels

Yup, those 8-tracks seemed cool at the time because you could get "quad" instead of stereo. But fairly soon we all learned why there were 8-track cases lying all over the road with 50 yards of tape hanging out of them!

To the OP, I agree with others, ripping your cd's to digital format is the way to go, assuming you have a computer with a disc drive. Most of the software is free and really easy to use. I'd suggest trying at least one cd to check it out, and I'll bet you (and the wife) will love the convenience. For what it's worth, I think iTunes is the best software and I've tried them all. It's free, easy to use, easy to keep your stuff organized, and easy to sync to an Android or iPhone. Full disclosure, I'm a bit of a music geek with over 2,500 albums (37,000 songs) ripped to my computer.

Even if they don't have an optical drive (CD drive), portable ones are dirt cheap today.

I ended up having my teenager rip several CDs to a 32 gig flash drive and it works perfectly in the truck. Thank you for all the suggestions

FLAC format so no audio compression

I was about to suggest that. My daughter and I spent some quality time together putting almost all of my CD collection onto a laptop and then thumb drives. She had been listening to much of that music since she was a little tyke and enjoyed the walk down memory lane. Took much longer to do than necessary because we kept listening to the music!
