Sorry...yet another shock thread.....

Hi, Folks,

I have a new F350 CCSB Lariat Ultimate with the 7.3L. I don't think the factory shocks have enough rebound damping and I want to replace them. I would buy the Bilstein 5100 shocks for the truck, but they aren't available for my truck unless I lift it (which I won't be doing). I couldn't find an answer to this specific question on the forum.

So, has anyone installed 5100 Bilsteins on an un-lifted 2024 F350? Does anyone have another shock suggestion for this truck (Fox maybe)? FYI, I'll probably never drive this truck off road.

Thanks in advance for your responses

I had the same concern you do, but there are many threads here that people verified they installed the Bilstein 5100's on a un-lifted truck. I am now part of that list of people,as 5100's have been on my stock 2023 F350 for about a month now. They did lift the truck a little bit, but not enough to notice, unless you measure the wheel well to tire distance before and after they are installed.

I installed them on mine a few months ago. Much improved over bridge joints, rough "ripply" patches of asphalt, etc. The day I installed them we went to dinner in town. There are several bridges along the way and wife mentioned that the truck seemed a lot smoother going over the "bumps". She was out when I did the install and did not know I had done it. That pretty much confirmed that it just wasn't me wanting to believe they were better.

Took the 85,000 Mi stock shocks off of mine and put Bilsteins on it and there was very little difference at all. I think you would be wasting your money.

the concern is if they are too long, they will overcompress before the truck bump stops limit travel, causing the shocks to blow out.

I think the truck is more stable over most bumps now. I like them. My only "off-roading" is through the yard, and pulling the camper on dirt/gravel roads.. I didn't hate the ride before, but these make the ride seem smoother.

No change in the rear height, but the front is a 1/2" higher based on the measurement from top of tire to bottom of fender/wheel well.

This is because not very many people can understand or feel the "difference"

at 85k your stock shocks are beyond wasted. Usually 50k tops.

The Bilstein tightens everything up, or many shocks do for that matter. Go compress that stock shock and then compress that Bilstein.

Most economy shocks are gas charged and only provide dampening in one direction

you need to get a valve controlled shock which dampens in both directions
