2000 Excursion wiring question

Does anyone know where or if the 2000 Excursion Limited has an external amplifier for the radio? If so where it is located. I have a 2000 Limited with dual media (CD/TAPE Radio).

Thanks
Bill

The wiring diagram shows the front speakers right from the radio. The 4 rear speakers are also right from the radio, 2 to a channel, but they pass through the rear console control, if you have that. Possible, but doubtful that some amplification of rear occurs there. This info is from the diagram...I've never looked.

Don't know if any one is still following this thread but the radio amp is internal tothe radio head. In 2000MY 90% of Ford radios whent to the 100mm tall box design. This allows them to package the amps internaly and the multi-CD changers. Your radio is probably a Dual-Media (Tape&Single CD) which is about 25 - 30 watts from the internal amp.

Now, other vehicles like the Mustang and Taurus have a Mach460 radio option which does have external amps. FYI, there is a Mach1000 comming for Mustang soon.
